About this Integration

Facebook Pixel — User Guide

Connect your Facebook Pixel to track purchases from your workspace and send them to your Meta Ads account.

What You Need

Step 1 — Create a Facebook Pixel

Skip this step if you already have a pixel.

  1. Go to business.facebook.com
  2. Click All Tools (grid icon, top left)
  3. Click Events Manager
  4. Click + Connect data sources (green button)
  5. Select Web → Connect
  6. Choose Facebook Pixel → Connect
  7. Enter a name (e.g. “My Workspace Pixel”)
  8. Enter your workspace URL → Continue
  9. Select Continue without verifying (or verify if you prefer)

Your pixel is created.

Step 2 — Get Your Pixel ID

  1. In Events Manager, click on your pixel (left sidebar)
  2. Click the Settings tab
  3. Copy the Dataset ID (also called Pixel ID) — it is a 15–16 digit number e.g. 1234567890123456

Step 3 — Generate a Conversions API Token

The Pixel ID alone only tracks browser events. The Conversions API (CAPI) token enables server-side tracking — purchases are recorded even when users have ad blockers.

  1. On the same Settings tab
  2. Scroll down to Conversions API
  3. Click Generate access token
  4. Copy the token — it starts with EAAB... and is a long string

Important: This token is shown once. Copy it immediately before leaving the page. If you lose it, generate a new one.

Step 4 — Save in Taskip

  1. In Taskip, go to Settings → Integrations → Facebook Pixel
  2. Paste your Pixel ID (15–16 digit number)
  3. Paste your Conversions API Token (EAAB...)
  4. Click Save

Step 5 — Test the Connection

  1. Click Test Connection
  2. You should see a green “Connected ✓” badge

If you see an error:

  • Check Pixel ID has no spaces or dashes
  • Check the CAPI token was copied in full (it is very long)

Step 6 — Verify in Facebook Events Manager (Optional)

  1. Go to business.facebook.com → Events Manager
  2. Click your pixel → Test Events tab
  3. In Taskip, click Test Connection again
  4. Within a few seconds you will see a Purchase test event appear

This confirms events are reaching Facebook correctly.

Why Server-Side Tracking Matters

Standard Facebook Pixel (browser only) is blocked by:

  • Ad blockers (used by ~40% of desktop users)
  • iOS privacy restrictions (Apple ITP)
  • Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection

The Conversions API sends purchase events directly from your server to Facebook, bypassing all browser restrictions. This means more conversions are recorded and your ads optimise more accurately.

Disconnect Facebook Pixel

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Facebook Pixel
  2. Clear both fields
  3. Click Save

Events will stop being sent immediately.
